At only 19.5 inches tall, this 8000-watt generator is one of the shortest generators on the market today. Engine controllers can sometimes be a difficult and stressful part to find. The information below will help guide you determine what controller you have in your generator, as well as, what start/stop switch is required.
12 volt cube relays were used on the CD model generators until 2004. There are 3 cube relays per unit. A white momentary rocker switch or momentary 3-way toggle switch was used to operate the generator.

Power Tech has two configurations when it comes to the upper and lower radiator hoses. If the upper and lower hoses are on the same side of the engine, it will require two of the lower hoses (03HSCDL). The top hose is cut to fit, but has the same bend as the lower hose. If the upper and lower hoses are on opposite sides from each other on the engine, it will require one lower hose (03HSCDL) and one upper hose (03HS7CDU).
There is also an upper bypass (03HSBYP05U) hose and a lower bypass (03HSBYP05L) hose on the CD models. Note that the lower bypass hose is part of the lower radiator hose system. You will have the lower radiator hose coming off of the radiator, then it is connected to a metal hose. From there, it goes to the lower bypass hose and back to the water pump (03PW05KIT).
Kubota has two different size thermostats on the 05 series Kubota engines. The best way to tell the difference between the two is to measure the thermostat housing mounting bolts center to center. The measurement on the thermostat housing bolts will measure 2" on center (03THM905K) or it will be 2 3/8" on center (03THM0305NEWK).
The CD Models had both Exciter type and Brush type generator ends. The best way to tell what style generator end is on your unit is to look for a 3 inch panel above the end bearing on the generator end. If it has that panel, it has brushes. If it does not have that panel, it is an exciter (brushless) type generator end. If you are replacing your generator end, the only replacement is the exciter type generator end. If your generator is a brush type unit, it will be converted to an exciter type generator.
Note: We do not have replacement stators or rotors for brush type generators ends.
With the information listed above about generator end types, picking the correct regulator should be easy. If your unit is a brush type generator, you will need the 06REG21. If your unit is an Exciter type generator, you will need the 06REG24.
The same information used for the generator ends are used for picking the correct end bearing. If your unit is a Brush type generator, you will need the 02BRG6304 bearing. If your unit is an Exciter type generator, you will need the 02BRG6206 bearing.
If you have a brush type generator, there are three possibilities for the brush assembly. If the original brushes are on the unit. Look at the color of the brush housing. It should be brown, black, or white. If the brushes are brown or black, check the springs. The springs will be internal or external (looks like a coiled clock spring).
Note: If you've already changed your brushes, please take a measurement from the two mounting holes. All replacements are white in color.
The 05SOKUB1P Kubota oil pressure switch is one of two options for the CD7000 and CD8000. This part is usually located above the oil filter on the side of the generator. This oil pressure switch has a single post for the wire connection.
The 05SO2P oil pressure switch is one of two options for the CD7000 and CD8000. This part is usually located above the oil filter on the side of the generator. This oil pressure switch has two posts for the wire connection.
There are two possibilities for the fuel shut off solenoid. There's a two wire and a three wire solenoid. Click Here to view the two wire solenoid (05SOLF05S-NEW). Click Here to view the three wire solenoid (05SOLF05S). If you have a CD7000, it will be the three wire solenoid. If you have a two wire solenoid, it could be the two wire or the three wire solenoid.
The Kubota 01FO05S oil filter is the only option for the CD model generators. Although there are many aftermarket filters available as a replacement. Power Tech recommends using the OEM Kubota filters to ensure the longevity of the generator's engine.
The Kubota 04FF081 fuel filter is the only option for the CD7000 and some CD8000 generators. Although there are many aftermarket filters available as a replacement. Power Tech recommends using the OEM Kubota filters to ensure the longevity of the generator's engine.
The Kubota 08FF17 fuel filter is an option for generators built after 2012. This is not an option for the CD7000 Generator. Although there are many aftermarket filters available as a replacement. Power Tech recommends using the OEM Kubota filters to ensure the longevity of the generator's engine.
The 04FA45001 air filter includes the element and the housing. When replacing this filter, it is required to dispose of the entire filter system.
Note: The foam ring that was used with this filter is no longer required and is a non-stock item for Power Tech.
There are two options for glow plugs on the CD Model generators. There is a 10mm and 12mm size difference. The best way to determine what size you have on your diesel generator is to place a socket on the head of the glow plug to find the correct size.
The CD7000 and CD8000 generators both use the same mounting assembly. The CD models require one front mount located underneath the engine. The generator also requires a front mount isolator and two rear engine mounts to complete the mounting system.
One front engine mount is required for the CD7000 and CD8000 generators. The Power Tech part number is 09MNTCD7720

The exhaust system on a CD Model Generator is one of the most custom aspects of the entire system. Power Tech mobile generators are shipped out with exhaust parts requested and purchased by the end user. Every application requires a different exhaust setup depending on the needs and restrictions of the application. The list below are parts that are compatible with the CD model and might be on your generator. Please check your generator's exhaust layout before ordering parts to ensure that you have everything you'll need to repair or replace the proper parts.
Power Tech offers two sizes for the CD model generators. Because this model generator is commonly used on RVs and Trucks, it may require different lengths for clearance. In the illustration, you'll see both the 04MUFNM2T4 and the 04MUF05N . The 04MUFNM2T4 is 6ft long and the 04MUF05N is 37" long. Both muffler options use the same length muffler. The difference is in the tailpipe.

There are two options for the CD model generator. Check to see where your generator's exhaust is coming out of the unit. There's a down out exhaust flange which requires the exhaust to come out of the bottom (base pan) of the generator. The second options is the side out exhaust flange. This flange requires the exhaust to exit out of the side sheet metal of the generator.

Flex pipes are an optional exhaust part, but it is highly recommended to preserve the life of your exhaust system. Most exhaust systems for Power Tech generators are highly customized due to different restrictions and the size of the customer's application. The 19 1/2" flex pipe (04FLXP114X19) is the most commonly used flex pipe on the CD model generators.
Do you know the purpose of a flex pipe is to absorb the engine's vibrations to prevent breaks in the weld joints of a rigid pipe setup? When installing an exhaust flex pipe, do not try to bend the flex to route a turn in your exhaust. It will result in a broken flex pipe.
Replacement belt for the CD7000 and CD8000 generators. This is the only replacment option available for this generator.
Replacement fan for the CD7000 and CD8000 generators. The 03FANBLCD8 is the only replacement blower fan available for this generator.
12 volt electric fuel pump for the CD7000 and CD8000 generators. The 08PE7061 fuel pump is used on most Power Tech generators.
The 35 amp breaker is the replacement for all CD model generators. Two 06BR35A1PAA breakers are required for the installation.
